US sanctions top Chinese officials over Xinjiang detentions. The US has announced sanctions on Xinjiang Party Secretary and Politburo member Chen Quanguo and two other top CCP officials involved in the “gross violations of human rights”, barring them and their immediate family members from entering the US. Visa restrictions are also placed on other CCP officials believed to be responsible for, or complicit in the human rights violations. The US Treasury added a fourth name to its sanction list.
