China sanctions US lawmakers in retaliation for Xinjiang measures. Following US sanctions placed on individuals connected to human rights abuses in Xinjiang last week, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced Monday “reciprocal sanctions” on Republican Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, Representative Chris Smith, US Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Samuel Brownback and the Congressional-Executive Commission on China.
